Topic: Some girls rape easy. Thanks Republicans, for letting us know!

Anonymous A started this discussion 14 years ago #22,778

Rice Lake, Wisconsin's most embarrassing resident State Rep. Roger Rivard made his now-infamous comment about how guys gotta be careful about where they put their penises because girls consent to sex and then lying about getting raped all the time. Having our reputations dragged through the mud in the court system and being swabbed in the vagina and having our bodies treated as crime scenes is terribly fun for us womenfolk, you see.

But it turns out that the case being discussed in the "girls rape easy" (which really should be a Tenacious D song) interview was an actual rape of a 14-year-old girl in her high school band room, and there was no consent involved whatsoever. So Rivard is even more of a dick than we thought!

According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Angela Beranek, the Democratic district attorney of Barron County, released a statement yesterday clarifying what Rivard was discussing.

The public needs to know the case Rep. Rivard was speaking about was not a 'Romeo and Juliet' situation. This was a sex act perpetrated by force against the will of the victim. There was no consent.

The case Rivard was discussing was that of 17-year-old Chetek high schooler Dennis Veldman, who in November of last year was charged with raping a 14-year-old girl in his school band room. The girl says Veldman told her he wanted to have sex with her, and that she said no. He proceded to take her pants off, told her to lie still, and raped her. The girl told prosecutors that she was too scared to do anything, and that it hurt. In a deal, Veldman pled guilty to three counts of fourth degree sexual assault, for which he served 90 days in jail. Veldman returned to jail in September, when he punched a 13-year-old boy in the face, breaking his nose.

Rivard's "some girls rape easy" comment came about a month after a child was raped in a band room.

Since the comments, Paul Ryan, Governor Scott Walker, Senator Ron Johnson, and several other Republicans have backpedaled the fuck away from endorsing Rivard. But the Pioneer Press reports that local Wisconsin Republicans are continuing to hold rallies for Rivard, and that Wisconsin Right to Life and Pro-Life Wisconsin are still holding fast and strong to their beloved easy rapin' candidate.

mr rivard is a retard for saying things when he does not know the facts

but it is true that women can falsly accuse a man of rape and harm him a lot that way

even if you are found not guilty people will just think you got away with a crime rather than actually been not guilty

How often does that happen compared to real rapes I wonder? When a politican makes such comments on record, what does that say about their feelings on women?

lol Because they dislike women, and wish to have the option of putting their penises into everyone.

@357,053 (A)

3% proved false but 8% "unfounded"

i would not want to judge his opinion on a subject based on one quote of his

but it does show that he is an oaf and does not think before he speaks, so it can reasonable be assumed he would not think before more important things, and would be a bad leader

I would base how he feels about rape victims on that quote. He said that a 14 year old girl, raped easy.

he said his father warned him that some girls rape easy

which doesn't really seem to have anything to do with the case he was discussing, i wonder why he decided to share

Because he thinks that many women rape easy. He felt that it was important for people to know that, relating to this case.

Mine too, but also that many people agree with him. Why is that?

i often worry that a girl will change her mind and accuse me of rape after a night out. it is a great fear for me, because there is no way to defend against it. it would be her word against mine and courts often are tipped in favour of the alleged victim.

i wouldn't warn people about it when talking to the media about an actual-factual rape though. that is just silly.

Apparently the rapist vote is more important than the female vote, then.

I appreciate your real concern over this issue. But this was not him being silly, but hurtful. He implied that an actual 14 year old rape victim, raped easy.

yes sorry cultural musunderstanding

when you describe someone as being silly over here it means that they are a foolish buffoon

Doesnt it also imply a lack of threat?

Here when someone uses the term silly, it implies that the person or opinion is not important and has no consequences related to real life.

my favourite way of doing that politely is describing said opinion as "interesting".
