Topic: I can drive 137 miles with £30 worth of fuel

Anonymous A started this discussion 14 years ago #22,742

Is that good? It's like £0.21 ($0.33 USD) per mile. How does this compare with foreign posters?

I can drive about 300 miles on that.

I'm getting my legs back in shape after an injury and I drive daily 80km (around 50 miles) on my bike. Costs me a bottle of water. And water here is free...

Edit: now calculating, the last car I drove could drive 300ish km with 30€ of fuel... lol Twingo...

Most US posters will think that is pretty crappy unless the only thing they drive is a giant moving van.

It's the fuel prices that are crappy, the MPG is OK. Moreover it's the tax on the fuel prices (tax is like ~80% of the cost), but then again how much does health insurance cost?

Useless information without your country of residency.

I'm not sure you could even class that thing as a car.

I'm sure that your car's fuel economy is wonderful. Like you say, it's just the difference in fuel prices.

At the recent US-average gas price of around 3.80/gal, you would have to get around 11-12 miles/gallon to end up paying $0.33 USD/mile.

Petrol costs $10.30 a gallon in the UK. Thanks.

Yes. I'm saying you are right in that it's just the difference in pricing, not the fuel efficiency. Also, UK gallons and US gallons are different.

At least your high tax goes towards a decent road system and public transit system.

What impact do your unpainted brake calipers have on fuel economy?

Get a motorcycle. Thanks.

My dad died on a motorcycle when I was 8. I'll never own one, too easy to die or get major brain damage from a 30mph collision. Also rain, ice, snow, it's freezing half the time etc.
