It is my understanding that is was a spirited debate, but Jon made Bill look just silly. Jon actually facepalmed at some point. I am watching it now (it just ended a few hours ago and the only way to see it was by paying).

Not exactly. I knew it would be portrayed as a Romney victory. Obama was barely a presence in the debate.

That being said, Romney really only 'won' if it were a lying and flip flopping contest. But from the average viewers perspective none of that really matters. That's politics. Politicians are fully aware of the average Americans ignorance and short-term memory, they take full advantage of it.
I'd be truly shocked if Obama didn't wipe the floor with Romney in the later debates, especially the last debate. Although the first debate can set a 'tone', most people will only remember the last debate, or last couple of debates at best (going back to the short-term memory thing). I'm really looking forward to the town hall style debates, should be fun for everyone.
The Jon Stewart vs. Bill O'Reilly debate was good stuff. It would be good for America if more debates like that were on national television - good for both sides.
