Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It's kinda big, but it seems ok. I haven't messed around with it much yet.

My Samsung Galaxy S II is back in the shops for me to pick up.

I painted my corners square so that Apple™©® can't sue me.

Wise idea. I almost got sued when an Apple lawyer spotted me eating a PBJ the other day. I had to explain to him that was just the way bread came out of the oven.

I favor the idea of a rectangular Galaxy in the near future. Thinner and just a little smaller in Horiz and Vert.

Then insert phone in a nice rubber rounded corner SKIN

Only to help with drops of course. So many ways to get rounded corners out of a rectangle. Silly putty with some glue for finger grips lol

I've never called the police in my life.

How many times have they been called on you?

None that I can remember. If the police were ever called on me, I sure the fuck wasn't around when they showed up.

You've impressed me with your cutting edge tech.

I remember when cell phones didn't even exist. Rotary dial all day, fuck yeah.

Honestly, I'd probably have a decent android phone if it weren't for the outrageous monthly price to keep it active.

@previous (Ks !KansasxqvM)
I remember those too.
You don't have a service provider, right? For that "$0 a month" you use yours as some sort of internet phone, yes?

I have a landline. My cell phone is not on a plan. I use Google voice to make free long distance phone calls with my landline.

Anonymous F replied with this 14 years ago, 5 minutes later, 3 hours after the original post[^] [v] #354,361

@previous (Ks !KansasxqvM)
I see. So the cell does nothing except act as an emergency line in regards to calling?

Ks !KansasxqvM replied with this 14 years ago, 3 minutes later, 3 hours after the original post[^] [v] #354,363

@previous (F)
Exactly. I pay like $10 a month for a landline, around 90% cheaper than a decent cell phone plan.

Anonymous F replied with this 14 years ago, 5 minutes later, 4 hours after the original post[^] [v] #354,370

@previous (Ks !KansasxqvM)
You don't have to have a plan for a nice android phone, though they go at quite a premium outside of contract. It could even work with that Google Voice, acting as a free phone for any place that has wifi.
Though it's probably not justifiable unless you really want a sharp piece of tech to carry around, which you probably don't actually need with that working setup you already have.
I'd do it, but that's just because I love having a little device that has ten times the power as my first real computer and the small conveniences that sometimes come with a smartphone.

A big, but one-time price tag for what I think would be worth it.

Ks !KansasxqvM replied with this 14 years ago, 4 minutes later, 4 hours after the original post[^] [v] #354,383

@previous (F)
Yah, if you only buy a new phone every 3 years or so, and have no or a extremely low monthly bill it'd be worth it. I looked at some numbers a few years ago that explained how an average cell-phone user is losing about $40,000 every 10 years - had they invested that same money rather than buying new phones and paying monthly bills.

Phones are at a point where I honestly thing they aren't too different between generations now in regards to speed. Pretty much everything is instant on any phone.
I have a very nice smartphone and I can see myself using it for a very long time.
