Topic: anybody else have alcoholic parents? because this fucking sucks

So i'm at my father's home after I drove my little brother here; my mother got drunk off her ass and fucked with us and my brother called the police and they asked me to stay with my father. I'm fine but my brother is seriously worrying me; he's being really cold and serious and not even crying, I can tell he's upset over this and keeping it to himself. Hell knows his xbox is the only thing he has to escape from his hellhole of a family (he says one of his live friends was abused too and urged him too alert the authorities). While my mother screamed at me for being a homosexual, instead of crying and wishing he was somewhere else he stood up to her and tried to take control of the situation. I know he must be going through hell right now. What can I do to help him? He doesn't seem angry towards me but he shakes me off whenever I talk to him.
I'm 17 and he's 11. He called the police because my mother was getting violent and acting like a bitch. Lucky me for having the one bedroom in the house without a lock.

Even if she did...a life in foster care won't do the kid any better, there are no positive outcomes when people like this decide to have children.

My mom used to freak out too, she was really violent with my dad and sometimes we had to leave the house.
But, I feel bad for your brother, really. You should wait for him to come to you, depending on how close you are to eachother.

Yeah, usually she just gets depressed and sleeps it off. This is pretty rare of her but it's not the first time it's happened, she got arrested in a motel after we got evicted from our house.

Does he have friends? Is your dad stable? You are almost able to get out, but your brother has some time to go.
Sucks.
The fact he would call 911 shows he is at least kind of strong. He could be alright just frustrated. Lots of 11 year olds would've just cried into their pillows.

No, my mom just gets violent while sober, instead.
Sucks, though. Hope you and your brother end up okay. :/

I would rather my parents be here and alcoholic, rather than have them die or abandon me.

This.
I was/am going through the same situation as your brother (with a bit of violence like), but with my dad. He's gonna be really frustrated, as he loves him mum but at the same time, is suffering. As long as you let him know you are there for him but only if he wants you to be, then I don't see much else you can do. As jump said, everyone handles it differently.

Sorry to hear that =( Sounds like he is having to grow up too fast. Him pushing you away isn't suprising, though. A lot of men just want to be left alone to their thoughts after a situation like that, I know I would. When he's ready to talk to you I'm sure he will.
