There's a slight hesitation as you align your head and shaft with the position and angle of the outer sphincter. If adequate time has been spent to lubricate and loosen the anus, the penis will slide in with reasonable ease.

It's a smooth penetration, unlike the subtle texture and variation in a vagina. The outer sphincter tends to be the tightest, and the inner walls apply a gentle pressure to the penis. The direction of the walls does not vary until you reach the bend that everybody has. Depending on the depth of the bend and the length of the penis, this might not be possible to feel.

The sigmoid colon is the part that is penetrated. This is aligned with the rectum. The sigmoid colon varies in depth, but has a bend that goes to the rest of the colon. Look at the images and read the descriptions.

It feels extremely tight around the penis, perhaps even too tight. It's very difficult to get it started, and I personally just prefer vaginal intercourse.
