Topic: What email salutation/closing do you generally use?

Anonymous A started this discussion 14 years ago #22,265

I usually use "Hi" and "Thanks," but sometimes it sounds kind of weird.

Best regards if it's something formal. Cheers if not. After it, my name.

It depends to whom I'm sending the email. Sometimes I don't end them at all.

But "thanks" is nice and safe and can be used in lots of situations, so you should probably stick with it.

Thanks.

Alternatively, you could end them with Alhamdulillah.

Thanks, usually.

I considered using "cheers" instead, but I thought that'd be going too far.

What kind of shit do you mail to end it with thanks?
If not "best regards" or "cheers", only thing I've used was "Greetings from *place where I am*" ... that's when they are not formal mails, but not bros enough for cheers (like parents from a girl in Sweden...)

But thanks? I'd feel weird to end a mail with thanks.

"Sincerely"

I used to use "Thanks in advance" but that seems kind of pretentious and presumptuous.

If it's just to my friends then I don't really use a salutation/closing

Otherwise I write it like a letter

lol

I say Hi or Hey, and Thanks, and then my name on a new line or just end it with my name and no message

@350,520 (TheSheep !kJ.A4PF7.k)
The convention at many U.S. workplaces seems to be to use "Thanks" to end an email (or more formally, "thank you"). Sincerely is too formal for a co-worker, and Cheers is for homosexuals.
