Topic: What really, really grinds my gears: People I don't know using my first name

Anonymous A started this discussion 14 years ago #22,261

You know what pisses me off more than anything? When someone I have never met addresses me by first name. Receptionists, doctors, salesmen, customer support, all of these people who I have never met before think it's appropriate to use my first name. It fucking isn't. If I was 50, or 60 it would be different, they might show an iota of respect, because I'm 20 they think it's OK. It sounds very, very patronizing and condescending to me, I correct them every single time. "Sorry, do I know you?" "No" "So I'm not your friend?" "Well..." "THEN WHY ARE YOU USING MY FUCKING CHRISTIAN NAME CUNT?!"

Stop it.

Maybe you have a disturbingly long last name, like Chrzwyszczrzwykchrzwyższczykiewicz or Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

No. It is a very common surname and easily pronounced.

Pretty sure it's normal and you are an overreacting paranoid parrot.
