Now I'm getting a WSOD as soon as I plug in the external screen. Booting into Windows with bootcamp fixes all this and I can happily configure my external screen. What the fuck Apple?

It's all working fine now. I sold my MBP and bought a Dell Latitude, it's half the price, double the specs and runs OSX vanilla installed from the DVD.
