See @previous (sim !PznzndQYds). Don't be a cheap-ass @OP. Spending the extra money is worth it. Also @40,351 (Falco !PZmcClOUDk). At Best Buy and other stores, they have test ones you can put on and press a button that plays the sounds of an airplane. Pretty impressive. Oh, and @40,357 (Homestar !RUNNERV7vk). I recommend buying some rechargeable batteries.

I had some, they just made white noise. So no, they don't work.

I tested 3 different from each pricerange for a college class (cheap, mid-range and high-end)...
And I must say they all sucked at low frequency reduction, and they started sucking at everything past 10kHz (but that's the point when the passive foam isolation kicks in anyway)...

Normal, constant background noise (like some said airplane noise) was fine... baby crying - the cheaper ones introduced more noise than they reduced hahaha...

All in all, nothing special, but still better than passive isolation in the average situation :)
