I'm not sure if anyone here would be able to answer this...
Have there been any cases in history where a major earthquake struck the same city twice? For example, an earthquake destroys a city, and then a few months later there is another catastrophic one in the same place?
I'm not talking about aftershocks, well... maybe aftershocks if they were just as deadly...

Earthquakes generally involve the release of tension at some point along a fault line. It builds up over time, so usually a few months or years following an earthquake there isn't enough stress to cause another quake.
