Skewing and stretching text removes the essence or the letterform, taking legibility with it. To solve this, choose a font that does what you need, be it tall and narrow, or short and extended. The only time an argument can be made for skewing or stretching text is in logotypes, and even then it is often done because it can, rather than because it is actually needed.
