@344,147 (dw !jdTkvovFCQ)
Jaywalking is a term commonly used in North America to refer to illegal or reckless pedestrian crossing of a roadway. Examples include a pedestrian crossing between intersections (outside or, in some jurisdictions, also inside a marked or unmarked crosswalk) without yielding to drivers and starting to cross a crosswalk at a signalized intersection without waiting for a permissive indication to be displayed. In the United States, state statutes generally reflect the Uniform Vehicle Code in requiring drivers to yield the right of way to pedestrians at crosswalks; at other locations, crossing pedestrians are either required to yield to drivers or, under some conditions, are prohibited from crossing.

Why do bland Midwestern white idiots get so obsessed about laws telling you where to cross the street?

I don't know, but the Chinese Government was quite upset at the guy that blocked all those tanks from entering Tienanmen square, that's for sure.

There could be a multitude of reasons. They don't give a fuck about the law, they want to get hit to claim insurance, they want to get hit by a white person and sue them (which should not work, but I'm sure someone won a case this way because scummy lawyers), they don't understand or care about their own safety. More than likely, the first one and the last one. People are dicks.
