It depends on the situation, and how much I want to hurt them. Normally I'd just contact them privately, and tell them that I'm just not feeling it anymore, or that I'm too busy for a relationship. Then I'd proceed to make all my online profiles "single", I might keep up romantic public messages for a while, as a sign of good will. (I'll take them down as soon as I start to pursue someone else.)
Now if I'm a little angry I'll just change my statuses, and leave no trace of us ever being in a relationship, and I'll private message them something like. "We're over", and then I'll cut all communication.
Now, if I really feel wronged I'll run a smear campaign against them. But not as myself, I'll use an alias, probably play the part of my best friend, and just bad mouth her like crazy. The best part is, I'll defend her as myself. So I'll be fighting with myself, and everyone will think I'm great, and she'll feel like shit. Also status changes, and all that.
If I'm even more angry I'll release private information, again never as myself. (Don't make yourself look like an asshole). And the smear campaign stuff, and the aliases, and the status changes.
If I'm even more angry I'll actively give private info to bad people, I'll go down back alleyways and give their number out saying it's a great cocaine hook up, or a prostitute, or both. And I'll threaten people online, and say I'm my ex, and then give them my ex's address/phone. Stuff like that. And of course the status changes, and aliases, and smear campaign.
Okay, now if I really feel fucked over, and I want to make someone suffer. I'll pretend to be several people who just hate them, I'll do all the releasing of information, and giving it to shady people. I'll also call their place of work and complain anonymously, and do that through different numbers, until they're fired. I'll call the cops on them periodically for noise complaints, and suspicious behavior. I'll put up an ad on craigslist with their address asking to get raped. Yes, I will actively try to get them raped. And I'll just screw with them until they kill themselves or drop off the grid. All the status changes, and previous stuff, too.
