when trying to download it, I get this

> Extensions, apps and user scripts can only be added from the Chrome Web Store

Enable developer extensions or something.

There's an option for 'Developer Mode' on the extensions page, does that do anything when ticked?

I did some googling and it's apparently a security thing with no workaround.

> Anyone who tries to add an extension outside the Web Store will receive the message, "Extensions, apps, and user scripts can only be added from the Chrome Web Store. Learn more." In pointing users towards its Store, Google will focus on filtering software added there for suspect code.

> Individuals or companies hosting legitimate extensions on their own websites will need to add these to the Store or use inline installation (where apps appear to be hosted on a site but are actually on Google's Store).

It's not even free to put extensions on the store. I think Google just got hungry for some jewgolds.

Add this to your Chrome shortcut target:
--enable-easy-off-store-extension-install

OK I discovered a way to install them after all.

1. Save the extension as a file on your desktop
2. Go to your extensions page
3. Drag and Drop
