Sustainability sucks. It's worship of a future that may or may not exist. The present is here and waiting. People who've actually been born have needs. Mythological future generations can suck it.

Typical boomer/echo-boomer mentality. @previous (q)
Those who live in the countryside of the northern midwest will need not worry about such problems.

the US will be fine. We spend as much on our military as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, India, China, Iran, North Korea, South Korea, Isreal, Japan, Canada, and Australia combined.
come at us

what does that mean? we spend 1.5 trilion on defense annually. Do you have any idea what that means? We could cut our spending by half and STILL be on top as far as spending goes--by a long shot. If we did that we'd have our deficit paid down in 40 some odd years. Having giant amounts of military spending is like having money on our pocket, our spending is so obscene that all we'd have to do is dial it back a little bit, put it into social programs, and we'd have a huge social bailout should we need it.
The reason we don't do that now is obvious: we're not in that much trouble yet. but don't worry, we've got a fuck load of money available in tax dollars, sure they're earmarked for military spending, but, it's better to tighten the belt then dip into the "emergency fund," as i like to call our massive military spending.

ok, simple answer: government is running purely on I.O.U. notes at this point

that doesn't really matter. it's not like we'll have to pay it back. just wait till the people of china revolt against their communist masters and civil war destroys their government. Think we'll transfer that debt to the new democratic government? lol, no, no. just take that one off the books.
but offer humanitarian aid.

we could just nuke anyone we owed too much money to, also.
it's not like we can be strong armed, just borrow as much as we want.

No, I'm not religious. I'm objective. People who are here in the present exist. Potential people of the future may or may not exist. These are facts.
