The Democracy Movement (DM, ä¸å›½æ°‘主è¿åЍ) in China is a series of loosely organized political movements united against continued rule by the Communist Party. One such movement began during the Beijing Spring in 1978 and was taken up again in the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. They aim to fight the the corruption, censorship, and lack of freedom and opportunity that the Communist Party has forced on China with its continued single-party rule. They are of the opinion that the Communist Party of China has no intention whatsoever of ever relinquishing power even if all their economic goals are ever achieved, so the only path to democratization lies in the overthrow of the Communist Party.
