India is fuming over the presence of a mystery woman who led out the nation's athletes at the opening ceremony.

The Times of India reports that the woman "brazenly" walked alongside the official flag bearer, Sushil Kumar, yet no-one knows who she was or how she came to be at the head of the group.

And she was not even dressed in team attire.

India's 40 athletes and 11 officials were dressed in yellow turbans and sarees, while the mystery woman was in jeans and a red zip-up jumper.

The incident has raised serious security concerns and the Times quotes Indian officials as being utterly in the dark about how it happened.

"She had no business being there. It was a clear case of intrusion," Acting Chef de Mission Brig P K M Raja is quoted as saying.

"We are taking up the issue with the organisers. We don't know who she is and why she was allowed to walk in."

The Indian delegation is also demanding an apology from LOCOG.

Image went missingHaha, oh god that's hilarious. The best part is that she completely got away with it, despite all of the security they have.

On a similar note, this happened when the Germans went by:

In the most awkward moment of a stunning London 2012 opening ceremony, an elderly spectator appeared to give a Nazi-style salute as German athletes entered the stadium.

The elderly man was standing as he extended and retracted his arm in an action that was supposed to be a wave - but looked like something else.

Twitter was alive with comments following the incident.

@simonfromharlow tweeted: "Was that a fat bloke giving a Nazi salute to Germany?" and @allgoodcafe was equally mystified: "Did I just see a guy doing a #nazisalute? olympicceremony".

London Mayor Boris Johnson, sitting behind the gentleman concerned, seemed to find the amusing side to the situation as he enjoyed a joke with the neighbouring Duchess of Cornwall.

lol

Well apparently it was a cast member of the opening ceremonies?? http://in.reuters.com/article/2012/07/29/olympics-indian-contingent-mystery-woman-idINDEE86S02Y20120729
A woman who gatecrashed India's parade at the Olympic opening ceremony was a member of the cast from the extravaganza but should not have been with the athletes, London 2012 chief Sebastian Coe said on Sunday.

Indian officials were incensed by her unauthorised presence alongside flag-bearing wrestler Sushil Kumar on Friday, wearing red and blue in complete contrast to female members of the contingent who were sporting yellow saris and blue blazers.

"She made it into the opening ceremony. She obviously should not have been there," Coe told a news conference.

"I can now confirm that she was a cast member. She was slightly over excited."

The apparent lack of security angered the Indian Olympic Association.

"How did they allow her in? It was a security lapse. Nobody knows who she was. She looks like an Indian," IOA vice president Tarlochan Singh told Reuters.

"She looks like an Indian" is my favorite part.
