The US military is poorly trained. The only reason you win the wars you enter is because you invade countries with even more poorly trained troops. Iran is very rich. It's a first world country. They have a very strong military.
If US invades, they would be forced to rely on air support a lot. Even that is not certain to succeed.

actually they've been training in Iraq and Afghanistan for the last 10 years specifically to go to was with a real country like Iran. I'd agree, before the invasion of Afghanistan our troops hadn't seen active combat in over 10 years. They needed a nice training war, like Iraq. but i wouldn't fuck with them now, haven't you heard what the american kill to death ratio is? it's like 30:1.

Actually iran's army is no more sophisticated than 1990 era F-16s, old tanks, and old ships. In fact their tech is SO out of date because they bought the junk the US already decommissioned and replaced with modern weapon systems.
Their airforce would be done in a day, their navy less than a week, and a US ground army would route the iranian forces into the cities and we'd engage in small arms urban style warfare.
Just like Iraq.

Honestly it'll be a very short "war" with a protracted insurgency. Pretty much like attacking any middle eastern country. Our populace doean't stomach insurgency well, that'll be the only problem. But realistically an army on army war would end pretty quickly. Sweeping up the insurgents would be a different task altogether.
But probably like Iraq the "war" would be won as soon as it starts.

We already operate out of Turkey, and could sink the whole Iranian Navy in a week, maybe less. we'd just use cruise missiles. They'd never even see our ships! I bet we'd do it in a day. Then we'd just use the old Iraqi Rope-a-Dope and battle an insurgency for a few years.
Oh yeah! and i fully believe that the Iranian Air Force will be obliterated by US drones. maybe even super secret skunk works drones with tomahawk missiles and evasion capabilities. also they'll be stealthed.

Iran's military is a joke and Iran knows it. This is the primary motivation for development of a nuclear weapon, as it was in France, India and Pakistan. In many aspects, nuclear weapons are the great equalizer. It's the only path for a country such as India, whose military is a complete joke btw, can rise to the same level as the USA.
