Topic: Any way of getting around illegal download warnings from ISP?

Got a letter from my ISP to say that the Irish Association of music something-or-other has had an independent third party monitor my activity and they know I've been downloading torrents. A second infringement and they'll take away my internet for 7 days. Any ways of getting around this? Using a proxy wouldn't matter I assume, they'd still see.

there are several ways of doing this, it all depends on the isps views on piracy and privacy. you could:

1. run your torrents through a VPN/seedbox
2. copy/paste a canned letter to your ISP stating why they should fuck off/tell the irish mpaa to fuck off; i dont have any exact links but there are plenty of blogs devoted to this
3. horde as much crap as you can and take your business elsewhere when they shut off services
4. switch to direct downloading
5. switch to private trackers
6. switch to usenet
7. ignore them completely

Yeah but all they'd see is the proxy IP. Your ISP sent you that mail because IMA's bitch-group copied all the IPs in a swarm and sent sub-poenas to the ISPs those IPs belong to.

So if you get on a VPN from a different country, all said bitch-group will see is the IP from a different country. Untouchable, dig? I suggest this one:

Use a client that supports IP blocklists. This will prevent your machine from connecting to known spy companies.

Yep, VPN is the best way to handle it. Shouldn't get anymore trouble from them.
