I'm looking to get a job at Disneyland this fall. In order to do so, I will need to move out of my parents house and rent a room somewhere closer to the park, because I live way, way too far away to commute. Rent in and around Anaheim, CA can range anywhere from $400-$600 a month.
The best time to apply is October because that's right before the Christmas season (busiest time of the year), and early spring in time for the Summer.
The pay is barely above minimum wage, but the hours are good. Not full time, but good. Many people who work at Disney have two jobs, but I would be making myself fully available and leave my dismal life at office depot behind.
If everything goes as it is now, I will have about $3,000 in savings by October. Maybe a little bit less.
My parentals are strongly suggesting having 5 grand in savings, but I think that might be a little more than I need but who knows. They know better, but I want to get the fuck out of here and October is the prime time to apply. And if I don't get the job this October, than that's fine, more time to save.
But the question is: would you risk it? Would you move out with about 3 grand in savings if you had to?
I already have a reliable car, a new computer, and good essentials to live on for a while as I get situated to a very humble yet happy lifestyle. -A $800-$1000 a month lifestyle.
TL;DR version:
can you move out with a stable slightly-above-minimum-wage-job secured, rent one room, and have 3k in savings?

3K seems decent. The larger question is if you'll have to wear a character costume at Disney. Those fuckers get hot as hell.

lol, someday, but I won't be starting there. It'll take a few tries before sucessfully completing an audition. And they only have them 2 or 3 times a year.

Well if there are no other jobs going around I can't imagine you have much choice .
I don't know what its like in the US but you have to remember that when you get a new place you'll be paying the first months rent, deposit and finder's fee (If you go through an estate agent) all in one go.
That's already $1,500...

well it varies so much... some people just want a security deposit, or just first months rent. A lot of people here like to go with just a security deposit.

Depends on how expensive your new home will be to rent and also how much of a dick your landlord is. Most of them will charge a deposit and also maybe the first month of rent in advance, but it may be several months if the landlord is, in fact, a dick.
I don't know what it's like in the USA, but here one of the cheapest close to a city "Unfurnished converted first floor flat comprising hall, lounge, kitchen, bedroom and shower room, Fitted Kitchen and Fitted Bathroom, 1 Bedroom & 1 Reception Room and Double Glazing" apartments is £250pcm, which equates to about £58 per week. And the UK is very expensive compared to the USA, so there will probably be similar things for you. So I would say yes, it is totally possible to move with $3k (probably providing you can find a source for cheap essentials like oven, refrigerator, etc... or get a place advertised as furnished).
