Topic: Why do americans tend to drive big cars and SUV's?

Falco !PZmcClOUDk started this discussion 14 years ago #20,857

Especially here in LA. So many cars that park at our store are big ass SUV's driven by ONE PERSON. It makes no sense when you consider that you have no other option to get around town here. -Why pay that much more for gas?

Because obesity.

All our air pollution just blows inland. If we don't create enough smog each day to make Riverside into a shit-hole, then how are we going to feel better about where we live?

Because Americans are obese idiots. Thanks,

It's because... they fat, and SUVs are the ideal veichle... for eating burgers.

Because Americans want to use up worlds oil supply, so Rag Heads end up with nothing to export.

Fuel prices are too cheap in the USA so people can afford to drive something that does 1 mile to the gallon.

Are you kidding me dude, I know petrol is expensive across the pond compared to here, but it is still exorbitantly expensive. Almost 4 dollars a gallon is anal rape for a college student budget. I'm looking for a scooter to help alleviate my fuel consumption, because I feel that driving to and from work in my little Ford focus is unnecessary when all I'm transporting is myself and a work shirt.

Funny. Petrol in the UK is at least $11 US a gallon.

Of course there is that safety factor. Rain etc and that random rock on the road. DUI drivers and you on a two wheel scooter just looking for trouble.

About 80% of the cost is tax.

Well, I get that, and that's why I am wondering about the insurance cost. I want to do a cost analysis, to see if the gas savings are worth the extra insurance costs.

Yeah, but you use bigger gallons to make you think your fuel economy is better. US gallon us 4 quarts, not 5. So add 25% to US prices to compare directly.

Ouch good point. Reason so costly is because Queen and court are expensive to keep up.

Actually what the royals pull in via tourists who come to see royals more than offsets the cost of having royals.

So you mean the Royals have turned into Pimps for Brits. Royals have become the Disneyland per se.
