As someone who has been to a Nascar race, I can confirm your assessment is true. I only stayed for about half the race, it was ear-bleeding loud and mind-numbingly boring. What I saw that day will be forever burned into my memory, the level of redneckiness was off the charts. I was horrified, mortified, stupefied, and embarrassed to know those people are my fellow Americans.
Anyone looking for a culture shock needs to attend a Nascar race. Do it.
