I've always been interested in cases of children raised in captivity. Recently, this urge to find information about this topic has greatly increased.
The first target for my obsession is the Josef Fritzl case. Basically, Elisabeth Fritzl (born April 6, 1966) was locked in a cellar for 24 years by her father, by whom she gave birth to seven children. In April 2008, she was found by authorities. I generally feel very compelled to seek out information about this crime.

I took some time away to read about the Kampusch case (which I hadn't really known about in any sort of great detail), and I must say, it seems pretty interesting by comparison to the Fritzl case. I think had the police caught her kidnapper, they could have probably done a much more extensive psychological profile on him, which is what I mostly enjoy reading from extremely odd scenarios such as this. An example of that sort of profiling is with regard to Ted Bundy, but that doesn't have much application to this particular situation.
I find it somewhat odd that the girl (Kampusch) had such a proclivity towards sympathy with her kidnapper, and how the media (and she in turn) argued the possibility of Stockholm Syndrome. It's such an extreme scenario that I doubt anyone will ever know truly what transpired between these two individuals (minus the living girl, Kampusch, who seems to want to avoid that negativity). I think it's great that she's moved forward with her life and not letting this extremely tragic and bizarre situation affect the rest of her life. I think she's a role model for victims of abuse who can endure and move on with their lives. That's extremely heart-warming to know she actually made something of herself despite those disadvantages.
I only read the Wikipedia article, but something I find odd about this scenario is how there seems to be a lack of sexual abuse (correct me if I'm wrong). The kidnapper has a very strange modus operandi, in that scenario, and that seems to be what I find so interesting overall. Most typical (if you could call them typical) situations like this usually are inherent of sexual abuse, and this sounds pretty lacking in that area, which is why I am very curious about the kidnapper. Without having done more any reading short of the Wikipedia article, is there any evidence to suggest that, OP? Sorry if you addressed it and I didn't see it in any of your other previous links, but I'll look a little closer at them now because you've definitely piqued my interest.

I believe that he was sick from birth. There have been people who had much worse upbringings than him, and they have never accomplished such a horrific crime. I would lean more towards it not happening. One of the articles said that she told investigators that she recognized him immediately. If he had been with his captors for that long he would more closely resemble them physically than his parents so he probably wouldn't look anything like he did as a child. I don't think anyone here was implying that, however. I know social norms tend to be rather misplaced in regards to things like that. I find it very sad that people who try to better themselves and seek help have to be chastised in such a manner where making a turn-around seems nigh impossible. I think a lot of social stigma is ingrained into it, and I think it's taking some time but people are slowly starting to look past these issues towards a better future as a whole. I think we're starting to look past the absurdity of our own shortcomings, mistakes, and so on that we can start pushing things forward as a society. For example, they call it Alcoholics Anonymous, but for the most part it isn't totally that in regard to the second word. I think it strives towards that meaning, and I think people these days are now looking at programs such as that as being something we ought to not be ashamed about anymore these days, and make such participants into the social pariahs that moral/social uptightness seemed to imbue on them from a very fragile, out-dated outlook on life that 'such things ought to not be spoken of'.

The reason I think some people may see you as “detached†is because you have this crazy voracity for knowledge and little details. I have come to realize you have this hunger for EVERYTHING, not just fucked up shit, so I don’t see you as detached, I just see the immense interest in everything people say as part of your personality.

People like JPL (you came way before him, but it’s a good example) would post OBVIOUS OBVIOUS troll material, and you’d be the one to go “Oh really? You fucked your sister? Tell me about it, can I ask you questions?†I used to just facepalm and go “She just doesn’t get it…†But now I understand it’s just your love for finding out about people (A trait that I’ve come to like, I think you’ve started some very interesting conversations, and even turned some troll-posts into actual topics)
I think some people see you applying this type of interest to topics like Joseph Fritlz, pedophilia, drugs, ect, and they say “She doesn’t even get effected by this shit, she is really detached.†Simply because instead of posting “Wow that is fucked up, OP you are sick and should kill yourself†in a CP topic or whatever (like a normal poster) you will jump in and start asking them questions, try to get a full view of their lives, the situation, what led to it, ect.
I’m not sure if what I’m saying makes any sense to anyone but me, but that’s the way I see you. You seem to have a genuine interest in any topic, no matter how fucked up it is. Someone who doesn’t have a good knowledge of your entire body of posts might just see you asking all these questions in the fucked up threads (the most read threads) and attribute your inquisitive nature only to fucked up shit, not realizing it is just how you are with everything.

For the most part the storytelling was pretty good. My biggest issue is that you really hardly get to know the mother or youngest daughter. The story seems to be primarily about the father and the two eldest children. All I do know is the scene in the bathroom when the eldest snaps caught me off guard.

Kids is very good and it stars a young Rosario Dawson and Chloe Sevigny. Now "Antichrist" has very nice gore, but a fairly shitty and nonsensical plot.

Check it out for the brutality, just don't expect much from the plot. I prefer "Inside" or "Martyrs" for excellent gore and storylines.
