There are so many contradictions here. Here are the ones that come to mind:
1. People on the street are rude, vicious, and predatory. But in private, they are the nicest, most generous people on earth.
2. Chinese cities are filthy and ratty. But individual Chinese at home are obsessed with cleanliness.
3. Chinese let their children take huge risks with safety, like climbing on construction piles. Yet 1.5 billion of them have made it to adulthood.
4. Chinese hate foreigners as a group, but they love individual foreigners.
5. Some Chinese are so poor that they subsist on $2 a day. But some Chinese are so rich that they drive Ferrari and Lamborghini.
6. The government is Communist, but China is like the Wild West of free markets.
I am sure I will think of more, but what do you think about that so far?

7. On the street you see an ocean of thin, fit, or almost anorexic looking Chinese, but then standing next to them is a morbidly obese self proclaimed ghost hunter on a field trip.
