Because I have to register a game so I could get an update I've been wanting for it for some time now. But the problem is that the case nor the installation manual have it. The installation process doesn't even ask for it either. I remember seeing some video about a trick where you can locate a serial key on a disc or some shit like that. Is this legit? Is there another way of finding out your game's cd key? I've been searching years for this answer and it's driving me mad.

The Political Machine 2008, I got it as a gift for Christmas one year. It's a Stardock game who are known for Galactic Civilizations II. I noticed that Impulse had a View Serial button, but when I click on that. It doesn't do anyway for this game.

You can only find it where they put it. Its not on the CD itself. Check the case or Google what the normal location is

Where to find the serial/CD key would depend on where the manufacturer put it. Have you tried doing something crazy like searching "Political Machine 2008 find cd key" on Google or posting the question to forums.politicalmachine.com like this guy did? I'd say you might be able to dig it out of your registry, but that might not be true if you didn't need it during the install.

I didn't register that and I'm not sure if it is registered. It's not mine. It just shows up in My Games on Impulse. So I'm not sure.

Dunno, most the threads on their forum just say to email them if the serial isn't on the case or the manual. Some releases didn't have serials apparently. It's doubtful the company would print a different CD image for each individual copy, so I don't think serial would be buried anywhere in the information on the CD itself.

Stardock doesn't care about copy protection. Just call them and tell them you lost your CD key. Offer to send a photo of the CD as proof you bought it.
