I love pimsleur, but it can't teach you to read~

1) Pimsleur is better than Rosetta Stone, but not a replacement for a text book.
2) Go get Genki
3) Learn Hiragana. Nobody uses Romaji and you'll not progress clinging to it.

Change your system local to Japan.
Then.
1) Install
http://www.google.com/ime/
Naturally, select Japanese Input.

2) Install
Rikaikun if you're using Chrome/Iron
OR
Rikaichan for Firefox.
This is a built-in dictionary for moonrunes.

3)
If you have an Android device, install either Human Japanese (really friendly! if a little bit slow) or Obenkyo on it.

4) Hiragana practice sheet.
Get one that lists stroke order.
Write each symbol 50 times each day for ten days.
