Just throwing this out there, if you're from covert surveillance then wearing a balaclava, body armour with POLICE written on it, and three guns might not be the best idea, since it pretty much gives the game away.

The ruling came after an emotional hearing where prosecutors showed a video of Fullerton officers Manuel Ramos and Jay Cicinelli beating Kelly Thomas with their batons, kicking him and Tasering him on the street.
The video begins with Ramos asking Thomas to put his hands on his knees and becoming increasingly frustrated when he doesn't comply.
At one point, he put on latex gloves and told Thomas, "See these fists? They're getting ready to f— you up, if you don't f—ing start listening."
The confrontation escalated into a more than nine-minute beating, with Thomas screaming that he couldn't breathe, apologizing, and yelling for his father.
When they were finished, Thomas, who was a paranoid schizophrenic, was lying in a pool of blood. He died a few days later in a California hospital.
Ramos, 38, could be the first police officer in modern Orange County history to be tried for murder for on-duty actions, the Los Angeles Times reported. Cicinelli, 40, will be tried for involuntary manslaughter and excessive use of force.
Four other officers who came to the scene could also be charged in the case, the L.A. Times reported

The British police are doing a lot of things wrong. In fairness, the batons are okay but I still think they should be allowed to carry guns. Lots of criminals have fuck swords and even guns of their own.
Also, they are ostensibly allowed to have tasers, but most of the forces are funny about it so they aren't allowed to have them a lot of the time.

British police carrying guns is probably the worst notion I have ever encountered. There is no need for them to have guns. Look at what happens when pigs are given tasers, they point them at every single individual they arrest because of some obscure potential threat, just looking for an excuse to pull them out. It's vastly more important for the general public to be armed than law enforcement, hence the 2nd amendment which the British public do not have (nor any worthwhile bill of rights), so civil liberties just get eroded, eroded and eroded until we're living in a fucking dictatorship. Generally the police will only draw their firearms when it is proportionate to the situation, the handful of crimes involving firearms get dealt with by armed officers, there's no need for every policeman to have a fucking gun especially with the absurd gun control in the UK, it would just be ridiculous.

Watch some police documentaries and you will see those pigs with tasers pulling them out on every occasion where they want to arrest someone, one time they tased someone because he was suspected of being involved in an armed robbery with a gun (later proven innocent) - they're power hungry, they want an excuse to pull those things out an electrocute people. It would a terrible decision, I can see it now, there would be hundreds of cases where they were used without justification, countless police forces would be getting sued.

The guy said that there's lots of divisions who are made up of actual policemen who don't actually go out and deal with crime. It's the responce officers whose opinion matters here.

Well, a lot of the time they do have to deal with nutters with baldes (and sometimes one officer on their own, depending on that particular force's policy on double crewing). I think a taser is more than resonable in a situation like that. Gives a single officer a way to easily take down a potential attacker without them having to get up close.
Of course there's bigger problems that have put them into this situation in the first place, but it's a solution.

We do have a problem with knife crime, but there's no need for every officer to be armed. It's just unnecessary.
