Why the fuck would ANYONE let themselves get into THOUSANDS of dollars of debt that they KNOW they can't pay off in the short term? Didn't they learn from the housing bubble not to take a loan for an overpriced home that they cannot afford? Fucking learn to suck up you pride and go with a cheaper university, or you'll just stuck be with crushing debt that you'll never pay off. Also, attending ANY college that costs more than 10k a year is just mentally-insane. There are alternative universities that will get you the same certification for a MUCH lower cost.
PS: going to college for a non-STEM field is utterly pointless and wasteful.

With some of the repayment plans, there's really no significant difference between taking out some loans and a lot of loans. Past a certain point, it's all pretty much unrepayable in the short-term, but the government has shifted much of that burden to the taxpayers.
Unless we're talking about some technical school by the highway that advertises on Judge Judy, $10k is just laughable. If you're not an idiot, you get scholarships. The prestige difference between schools certainly can make the cost worth it.
And really, I've never heard anyone who's actually held a real job say shit about which majors are useless. It's just not true. Some are easier some are harder, but the vast majority of people are not working in a field related to their major.

Have you honestly forgotten that state colleges aren't all that expensive? It's the fucking private colleges that have the extreme tuition rates. One can get into a good state college for 10k or less. Perhaps that limit is a bit extreme, but it isn't hardline for me. MSU is 13k a year and it's very good.
