No because I use FF Chrome and resort to IE only when I have too. Web still has pages that only render properly in IE.

Also for Active X - examples are having to download a patch from MS. Still only possible with IE.

I'd rather not lose the PERSONAL computer just for a convenience computer.

wait, so explain like im five, whats so bad about forcing other browsers to operate only in a sandbox? it sounds grate for lazy fucks like me that keep forgetting to use my sandbox.

The article explains the "Why"
Bottom line is that MS handicaps browsers and prevents them from doing things efficiently.

Keeping them from Active X and making Active X the only efficient means to use MS 8.
I think Euro will have some lutz with this and beat the shit out of MS again.

Apple taught Microsoft that it's pretty easy to tell people what they want to their faces.

yes, and now Microsoft is telling us what we don't want.

Sadly, there are enough apathetic, uninformed and generally stupid masses that willingly use IE for it not to make a difference to them. Before iOS (or iPhone OS), even Mac fanatics laughed at the idea of using something like Safari in lieu of an alternative like Firefox.

all they really have to do is make it slightly hard and confusing for people to setup, configure or install and most people will use the easily usable option. my dad wouldn't use firefox for years because windows kept saying, "do you want to make Internet Explorer your default browser?" and he'd inevitably click yes. he said it was a bother.

In the future every computer will just be a windows internet browser built around the registry.
everything will be apps!
everything!
giant supercomputing servers will run all of your applications!
your desktop will be nothing more than a monitor, a keyboard and a mouse.
you will pay for computing power the same way you pay for bandwidth.
it's the future.
it has been prophesied!

Wot I find amazing is how that was the way it used to be. Back in the dark ages of computers.

Even more funny is the early O/S UNIX.

UNIX of course is still used for supercomputers. Linux has taken over because its free.

The more things change the more they remain the same - Only bigger and faster.
