He hasn’t lost his position. He’s not getting shit about the furry costume. He’s getting requests from his staff to seek medical help, because he has been displaying odd behavior.
He has been a representative for twelve years, and he is in a wealthy and educated—but reasonably split, politically (right vs. left)—district.
I suspect he is being targeted by a smear campaign. This isn’t as big of a story as it is being played up to be. Weakening him, or forcing him to resign, before the 2012 elections. His 2010 lead was decent (54 to 42 percent), but that was the closest race since his initial election. His district is still safely Democratic, but there has been growing momentum for Republicans, lately.
