"being a person" is a predicate just like any other, at least in terms of logical symbolization. There is no difference between saying X is a cat and X is a person in terms of the underlying logical structure of language. Logic isn't describing what it is to be a person, it describes the logical relation between propositions, predicates, etc.

Well you don't get a degree in logic per se. You get a degree in Philosophy and you can specialize in logic if you want. I view logic as a really useful tool for symbolizing thought, but it's not something I want to focus my studies on.
