And yes just for the night. If it is the whine? Try turning the computer 90 degrees. That whine is directional. Put the machine on the floor and move your head around it. Then make sure you set the machine in a position where there are no reflecting surfaces. That may be enough to solve your problem.

It's not safe. Safe implies reasonable assurance nothing will go wrong, and that's what the fan is for.

it is not that old it is just very very shitty. also i can't easily replace it because it's the psu fan that is making a lot of noise and the psu is baked into the case
