Topic: Vibranium vs adamantium (Marvel comics)?

dreamworks started this discussion 14 years ago #19,269

these are the metals that are key in marvel comics. My friend and i are having a debate whether adamantium (wolverine's claws) or vibranium (captain america's shield) are stronger. We dont know and our debate is going nowhere can somebody help?

I thought Captain American's shield was made of an alloy of adamantium and vibranium which would mean it would be more resistant. The shield is indestructible and can only be destroyed by power cosmic or other types of powerful magic.

Adamantium is an attempt to reconstruct the steel alloy that happened with the original Captain America shield. It is close to indestructable, and can pretty much cut anything _but_ that original shield. As was mentioned, nobody kept track of how the vibranium and steel got alloyed the first time, so for the most part Adamantium is a "close second" at best.

Vibranium is an exotic, alien metal. It may or may not even be on the mainstream, earthly Periodic Table of Elements. For the most part it only exists on Earth (in the Marvel Universe), in Wakanda, and is known primarily for its energy-absorbing capabilities. The stuff is impervious to heat, corrosion, electricity and magnetism to extremes, but on a physical level it's a relatively soft metal. Closer to aluminum than steel on a purely physical level.

So basically you'll hear of vibranium alloys more than the pure metal itself, at least outside of Wakanda.

I know that, but what I am wondering is why. It didn't really help the conversation.
