Topic: 5 largest British ISPs to block The Pirate Bay.

And to think Holland was alone in this shit.

www.pirateproxy.net for those affected.

Only BT doesn't have to block (yet).

Torrents and digital lockers are too well-known nowadays, I think. I will be moving to Usenet shortly.

It's been blocked in Ireland for a long time on the biggest ISP (Eircom).

Not a big deal. Proxy etc.

Decentralized over servers mostly provided by ISPs. How does this seem like a good idea for piracy?

I suspect traffic to TPB will drop considerably for a few weeks, followed by a gradual rise as people discover the various ways to circumvent the block. One things for certain, though; it won't have the effect intended by the music industry. People will continue to use the site once they learn about proxies, VPNs, DNS servers; once they're armed with this new knowledge any future blocking attempts will be a great deal less effective.

(That's assuming the ISPs use DNS blocking. BT might use Cleanfeed, and while Virgin, Talk Talk & Everything Everywhere have similar blocking methods, I think they're reserved for CP blocks via the IWF. BT have been forced to use Cleanfeed in the past for blocking (Newzbin 2), but there's no mention of it in the court order.)

At the end of the day we're going to need a new internet where packet sniffing is simply too difficult. As you've said, this will be a nice push to get people on the new standard of privacy.

Virgin is really the most appropriate ISP for browsing minichan, using TBP, etc.

Shitlisted.

@316,370 (F)
That's a funny thought, the government blocking TPB is only going to force people to become better a pirating. Hilarious.
