Ok, op, here's how it goes down. You snort a line, it burns a little and you become highly alert and maybe a little manic. After it wears off you realize it's not heroin or PcP, but you'll want to do some more.
Even if you don't get that high or don't like it that much you'll want to do more. In fact, you'll think it so weak and unserious a drug that you'll justify doing more becuase it's not that strong.
Then you'll be dome with your gram. It's been 2 hours since you started and it's already gone. Maybe you save a line or two, or a bump for the am, but, before you know it you're going to need another gram becuase when you wake up the next morning and do the last of it, you'll just want more.
So you quit. The gram is done, so now you are too. You're not an "addict" so you're cOol. You wait a week, maybe 2, but before you kmow it you'll have another gram. Becuase coke ain't no thing. And you were able to go weeks without it. You're not an addict, but you'll binge.
And those binges get closer and closer, until finally you can say without a doubt, that you're a junkie.

Well put! This is exactly how it usually goes down. Meth and crack aren't as addictive as coke, especially crack. How people become addicted to crack is a mystery to me, it's a short powerful and dirty high. Coke is such a clean and strong high (if you get good stuff). The high you get from a fat primo with some good coke and weed is tough to beat.

I'm not trying to justify it but I've been wanting to experiment with cocaine for a while. Pretty much every drug I've taken is surrounded with a whole bunch of bullshit, lies and hysteria and I can't see (thus far) how cocaine is different. I'm not trying to suffer psychological dependence for any drug (although I certainly have for weed).

You won't get hooked on one gram. You have to actually TRY to get hooked on coke. I've been doing it on and off for years, sometimes I'll have a 5 gram blow out then leave it for 3 months, other times I'll get a couple of grams every weekend. It's no big deal really.

I think if differs from person to person. It's less about how much and more about how oftern you do it and on how you view it. If you use cocaine like I do just for fun when I have the money then it's all good but if you use it as an escape on a regular basis then you might get into trouble.
I tried it when I was 17, I'm 33 now and there have been years/months where I haven't taken any, I haven't taken any for about 2/3 months now and couldn't care if I never saw it again but I'm currently at a gig and if the sound engineer racked up a few lines and offered me one I would snort it and think him.
If used responsibly it's no worse then the powerful skunk weed you can get.

I have a strange relationship with coke. When I'm high it seems totally addictive, as if I'm always wanting more or afraid to come down. But once I've rode out the crash it's not such a compelling drug anymore. It's a tough drug for will, though I wouldn't say it's unmanageable.
I only quit it because it seems sooner or later every coke head makes their way over to crack.

Exactly. I've done it on several occasions, but never an everyday thing for me.
