Fair point. The last few years I had satellite I dropped HBO simply because they didn't have shit going on (they went through like a lull or something). Other than that though I grew up on HBO, and considered it a must have channel for most of my adult life. I'm gonna give Eastbound and Down a try, I've only seen Danny McBride in Your Highness and 30 Minutes or Less and didn't like either one of those though...

I think making a new TV show would be overkill and not very profitable. Admittedly some people really like Enterprise but I think in general comparison it didn't fulfill its potential. As far as a new film goes, I have no idea. I mean, co.nsider how long it took from the end of TOS until TNG (13 years!)

You're right. The franchise was pretty much bled dry, which is why Enterprise didn't make much money. I was hoping the new movie(s) would generate enough interest from the younger generation to reboot the show. Star Trek is such a timeless concept, I hope that in enough time people will start to get an appetite for it again.

Anonymous E replied with this 14 years ago, 3 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[^] [v] #311,764

@previous (Broseph !!fxnDb+Ve4)
It definitely takes time. Not to say that there isn't already good television in the making, it just seems like a half-hearted attempt (at least right now) to just reboot everything instead of coming up with original ideas, which is an extremely over-used concept already plaguing screenwriting and Hollywood for the better part of the last 10 years.

Probably for one use the song costs a fortune - Could run $25,000 or more for just the one use UNLESS they keep it to 9 seconds MAX

However if they show a short clip to the original then its full clearance under the old contract - for any new use it would cost a huge amount of money.

"Frank Sinatra versions

"Love and Marriage" was introduced by Frank Sinatra in the 1955 television production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town that aired on Producers' Showcase. Sinatra went on to record two versions of the song. The first was recorded for Capitol Records on August 15, 1955,[1] and became a major chart hit. (A competing version by Dinah Shore also achieved popularity.) The second version was recorded for Reprise Records on October 11, 1965.[2] The Capitol version would later be used as the theme song for the long-running 1987–1997 Fox TV sitcom Married... with Children.[3]

Although both versions were arranged by Nelson Riddle, there are many slight but noticeable differences. For instance:

"In the Capitol version, the opening lyrics are "Love and marriage. Love and marriage go together like a horse and carriage." In the Reprise version, the opening lyrics are "Love and marriage. Love and marriage. They go together like a horse and carriage."
The Capitol version includes a crescendoing instrumental bridge which would later be played over the closing credits of Married... with Children. This bridge is missing from the Reprise version.
In the Reprise version, Sinatra ends the song by saying (not singing) "No, sir." The ending of the Capitol version is an instrumental version of "Shave and a Haircut" with a bassoon playing the final two notes solo – a C flat and a B flat. (Traditionally, when played in Bb major, the last two notes of "Shave and a Haircut" are an A natural and a B flat.)

In 1956, "Love and Marriage" won the Emmy for Best Musical Contribution from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
