Seen one of these before? It's a folding arm barrier, they are so stupid. A few months ago I couldn't see properly and I drove straight through one of them. It basically hit my wind screen, the barrier was smashed and worthless and my car had just two tiny dints in the front. I just kept driving and nothing bad has happened to me. Funny. Yes there were tons of cars and people around me plus the place had CCTV. I found some guy on 4chan who was actually there after me and said I left a real mess. Hahaha.

History lesson. In the beginning the arms did not fold. One break through meant massive damage to the whole mechanism.
Over the years the arms were designed to break and do no damage to the rest of the contraception.

The object and I speak as an Engineer - Is to do the least damage to the barrier as well as what you are trying to keep out.
Someone can argue that they had to move past the barrier because the car behind was rolling forward. Insurance claims and scams.
Another example is a coin operated washing machine in a 24 hour laundry. Once upon a time they designed the coin mechanism to be bullet proof. Then the cost of repair exceeded what the mechanism held. Ergo a redesign to make them breakable and easy and cheep to replace.
This theory has yet to be applied to ATM's lol

Yes with one caveat. Years ago I made money on the side installing video systems to look at License plates. Will they really go after you? No clue.

I'm not frightened by all that legal shit my car has dark tinted windows just because I'm the owner of the vehicle they can't prove I was driving if I don't pull over. Just say a friend borrowed it that night.

The point is, if you're driving 40 fucking miles per hour, you're pretty much going to break through no matter what, so they might as well design it to break in a way that will cause the least expensive damage.

Not over here in the UK, you can claim someone else was driving and if they accept responsibility they have to pay the ticket. So I can just pay some random Chinese man to say he was driving, they send the ticket to him in China, then he refuses to pay. (This has been tried and tested many times, works fine as long as the police don't pull you over and hand the ticket to you, then you're fucked.)
