Topic: my dad is mean to me.

Anonymous A started this discussion 14 years ago #18,695

He never talks to me nicely. Any time I say anything to him he replies sarcastically or rolls his eyes. And he's always on my back about college work, even though I always get it in on time anyway. He doesn't care about anything but college. Never takes interest in me otherwise.

But he pays my way through college, so I feel like I can't just stop talking to him for being nasty to me. I swear I'm not exaggerating though. He's NEVER pleasant to me. I ask him to watch movies with me, I try to talk to him, and he just whooshes me away so he can watch tv.

What's the most sensible way to respond?

You have disappointed him by deciding to be homosexual. Stop being homosexual and your father will love you again.

Obviously he's bitter you're raping his bank accout to just to put off working for a few years under the guise of "geting an education." You can learn the same shit freely from books, and you're Dad could keep his money.

Seems to me you're the one being an asshole here. You Dad has every right to be pissed. Man up and pay for that shit yourself.

You might not realize it now, but education is the most important thing. You get a good education and then you'll have a nice job, with nice money and a nice life. Your dad probably knows this, and he is doing the best thing for you by supporting you through college. Maybe you could just tell him what you feel like, ask him why he is never nice to you and always sarcastic. You have to let him know how you feel, that is the only way to solve this, not everyone has a great deal of empathy - maybe he isn't doing it deliberately.

Nono, reread. It's a process, and on the way to becoming a man you stop worrying about beong coddled like a child by your parents.

Before OP can be a man he's got to stop being a child. Daddy is mean to me = child, i don't starve for parental affection = being a man.

Also i'd never begrudge a father the gift of an education for their children. You seem to think of it as leeching when in fact it's not. I detect jelly. Did you not choose to accept a college education or did your parents not try to afford you one?

sorry im late fags, here goes-

Alright, my mom has been in a relationship with this man named Don for almost a year now, and over the time he's done some really weird things to me (no not butt stuff).
From the moment I met him I thought he was a little weird, but that was piss in the wind when he did this thing;

I was sleeping in bed, and Don comes in with a chocolate bar. He starts to feed it to me while I'm sleeping. I'm a light sleeper, so this wakes me up, naturally I was confused, even more so because of the disorientation of sleep. He woke me up completely and told me that he 'got me some chocolate'. I ate it, as I was tired and unsure if I was having some sort of weird dream or what. After I ate it he told me that he'd rubbed it on our dogs nose before giving it to me. I didn't really care because I was so tired and just went back to sleep. The next morning I didn't really say anything because I was very confused and I wasn't sure if it was real. However, it kept happening, and he started asking me about it the morning after. One time he told me he farted on it before he fed it to me .

He also farts at me out the window often whenever I'm outside doing something. One time he farted at a kid who looked a little like me, and his parents came over and got mad at him. He still does this to me .

Another weird thing he does to me (or rather the dog) is grabs it's head and holds it to his butt, farts on her, and says to me, "I wish this was you, Daniel", very angrily. Sometimes he farts multiple times on her and she tries to get away, I feel bad for her .

He also poops his pants very often, about once every two weeks or so, that's only counting when I'm with him. When he does ** his pants, he quickly crouches down and goes behind a building or something and starts wiping his * with whatever's available.

One time he called me while he was out on the shore, and told me how he **** while he was clam farming or something. He said he just crouched over the water between two rocks, and that there were "leaves everywhere" so it was easy(??).

My mom called me once to tell me something, and Don was with her. Don asked if she was talking to me, so she gave him the phone, and he farted into it. It was a long fart, too. After like two minutes of me wondering what just happened, he said "Daniel, are you there?" and I said "Yes?" and he said "That was me farting". I hung up then.
.

Detect jelly all you like. Facts I have a college education which I paid for myself, and I have every right to be damn proud of that fact considering how pathetically small a percentage of people can say such a thing.

My parents offered, but they couldn't really afford it, so I refused to accept. I wasn't cool with the idea of putting my parents in the poorhouse simply because our society has fucked up free education so badly that most people without Bachelor's can't even form a coherent sentence.

The point I'm making has nothing to do with the parent. It is not always ethical to accept a gift. What you call jelly, I call telling it like it is: wrong. It's wrong for a child to take so much from a parent only to put them in a nursing home years later. His father knows this deep down and that's why he resents OP.

Generalizing.
Many people can afford it and plan for college from birth. It's honorable you paid for college yourself, so did i.

Whoopty fucking shit. That doesn't make it wrong for parents to want to pay for it themselves. They certainly don't have to, and many don't because they can't-even if they want to! You make it sound like college kids are all nothing but greedy and entitled freeloaders. Lol.

Seems its all part of growing up. Mean parent is sorta good for R/L

As we move on and meet a GF and discover her Gifts cum at too high a price....Just move on. One cannot move on from a mean parent, but one will out grow the parent. One puts in the tyme much as one might live with a mean employer for a while and then move on to the next.

College teaches you how to be a good worker drone and make other people disgustingly rich.

Break free from wage slavery. Material possessions do not bring happiness. Find a way to live doing something you enjoy that is fulfilling. Learn to live within your means.

Be free.

Many college kids are greedy brats who leech of their parents without gratitude. Not all of course, but many. Seems OP's Dad just want's some assurance his kids not falling in with that bunch.

I'd be curious to know what would happen if OP informed his dad he would be paying for the next year of college himself. Would their relationship improve?
