Topic: Attention everyone: I finally decided on a car.

stickybuns !bENfolDsOU started this discussion 14 years ago #18,459

it's a Jeep Wrangler. No Land Rover, no imported Mini, and no BMW sport saloon or coupé cabriolet.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find one with the steering wheel on the correct side.

Just drive on the wrong side of the road, that will fix the problem.

I tried that, but the car insurance company said that was an issue.

Insurance is an American scam/fraud/troll concept. Real British people drive without any sort of legal repercussions (read: to4str).

I know Jezza and captain Slow drive recklessly all the time, and they're British. I don't see why I can't, either!!!!!

You could get around it by reversing everywhere, that way it'll feel like you're on the correct side, just going backwards.

Jeeps are really good vehicles. They ued to have problems with engine block oil leak, but not any more.

Free advice: Don't lift it or put on bigger tires, otherwise you will get a horrible vibration over 45mph. Keep it stock, you'll save yourself many bills.

stickybuns !bENfolDsOU (OP) replied with this 14 years ago, 5 minutes later, 2 days after the original post[^] [v] #307,145

@previous (Nexus !jNexusRe/.)
I spent ages trying to find one that was stock and still reasonably priced. All the lifted ones (of which there are a lot) were dirt cheap whilst the stock ones in comparable state where at least triple the price. You don't have to worry about me doing that.
Also, I have to jump to get in as-is. Any higher and I'll need a ladder.

Is it a TJ or a JK?

You could get a nice set of aluminum side steps. However, if you are willing to shell out a bit more, a set of rock sliders will help stiffen up the body.

stickybuns !bENfolDsOU (OP) replied with this 14 years ago, 7 minutes later, 2 days after the original post[^] [v] #307,147

@previous (Nexus !jNexusRe/.)
It's an 08 X.

I'd never heard of rock sliders, but those are nice! I might have to get me some of those.

USPS Mail vans have the steering wheel on the other side. Check with other insurance companies.

That means its a JK, X is just a trim option.
