Topic: Does anyone think Seinfeld is actually funny?

I tried watching this and Frasier a lot but I just never really get it. Is it supposed to be a New York humour thing?

What's so funny about Seinfeld?

That's a tough question to answer. If you watch the whole series it has a ton of inside jokes and references to past episodes, along with past characters often turning up and effecting the story. I think Seinfeld was the first show to do that, or at least do it well. Kinda like easter eggs trying to figure them all out, also a Superman reference in every single episode. If you were to watch every episode of Seinfeld from first to last I think you'd have a much bigger appreciation for it. Interweaving stories like that has got to be hard, much less adding comedy into it. Often what made Seinfeld funny was the references themselves, so I could see why jumping in fresh would be hard. I might have a different perspective because I was watching Seinfeld play out episode by episode when it was still on the air.

Seinfeld is a show where you need to have an understanding of the characters to appreciate it. I was a lot younger when it was on, but I thought it was hilarious.

Curb is amazing, though.

I saw the pilot of this.

Didn't really do anything for me.

It used to be funny. After 14 years of re-runs I don't understand how people can still watch it.
