I just wonder what makes someone want to dress up in a fursuit. I naturally assume it's a return to childhood. Like a safety blanket type deal. Most furries seem at least socially awkward. Maybe im way off.

It's a lot of things. It's kind of a secure-feeling and a return to childhood. It's fun.
Part of it for me is that I never really cared for anything like it as a kid because I understood it wasn't real, never would be, and as a result didn't let my imagination do what it wanted to as much. So that part of my brain is catching up now. Make any sense?
Another thing for me it's understanding the world can be a dirty shitty place, and it's important to just be as happy as you can be no matter what people say. To really be yourself even if it means being someone else for a while. :)
I'm not really socially awkward but a lot of people who are become social butterflies when they're fursuiting. It kind of gives them the guts to walk up to people and play with their hair or whatever.
