I think some thick Asian accents make it really hard to understand what they're saying, but I don't think it's bad.

What do you mean by "cheap"? I think they, like many other non-native English groups (such as Hispanic) strive to preserve some of their heritage by speaking their own language in the home. That tends to just muddle their overall pronunciation when switching languages in public. I don't really fault them for it, but I think Asians are especially adamant about preserving what sense of connection to their culture is left when they are living in a different country.
