"Social Justice Sally" is a pejorative term for a radical liberal who alienates almost everyone s/he comes into contact with. The SJS will assume any hostility s/he experiences stems from them "striking a nerve" or ignorance. A similar rationalization occurs when they see people repulsed by christian fundamentalists forcing their beliefs on others - people are righteously indignant of the beliefs and not the people pushing them.

In an ideal world, the fundamentalists and the SJ Sallies would get together and tolerate each other long enough to arrange a televised debate. This would rage on eternally, with neither side willing to address the points raised by the other. Eventually a single channel would be devoted to this debacle, and the event would be hosted by Jerry Springer.

''*On a LJ post about a rat*

Prima: ...All would be fine and good, except for how the vet I saw basically ass-raped me for the visit.

Social Justice Sally: If you could please avoid using this kind of language in public spaces, particularly this one, I would be very much obliged. As a survivor of sexual assault, that's very triggering for me to read and when I'm confronted with it out of the blue it can sometimes ruin my whole day. Thanks for understanding.

Secunda: Somehow... just somehow, I really doubt survivors of sexual assault go out of their way to be triggered. If someone really was "going out of their way", they certainly wouldn't be looking for triggers in a rat community. Your comment reeks of ignorance and insensitivity. Swearing is totally different to using the word rape in reference to being taken advantage of financially. They are not the same thing.

It's great that you've found a way to survive an abusive past... but just maybe give a thought to the people who are still struggling with things. If someone states that a certain word or phrase is upsetting to them, there's no arguing that.

Social Justice Sally: Thank you much. I don't have the strength to deal with this right now. :/''

It's funny because it's true.

There's a person like that in my sociology class. They accused a bus driver of being racist because he wouldn't let a black woman with a pram onto a full bus.
