"I don't have anything to hide," - Yes you do, we all do, that's why we have curtains and wear clothes, we all have secrets we don't want others to know. Besides that, you could load 4chan and there is 10 child porn images there. You don't save the pictures, or even look at them, but they're saved on your cache and traces of those files will be lingering for probably years. God forbid a police computer forensics expert examines your computer, or some nosy cunt at PC World or whatever, you could end up doing time in jail and having your life ruined.

There are thousands of scenarios where it's useful. Your laptop getting stolen is another one. I just don't understand why people don't encrypt their computers, it takes a few minutes, you type a password in when your computer powers up and there's basically zero downsides with a modern computer. The added security is amazing and it takes hardly any effort. Go download Truecrypt from http://truecrypt.org and encrypt your hard-drive today, you lazy fuck!
