iOS is fine, it's just not up to the standard of empowering users a respectable linux disto or even Android is. You can do more with fewer resources on the open platform than you can on the closed platform.

Problem is, desktop operating systems are traditionally a lot more complex and powerful than mobile operating systems, and for obvious reasons. Apple seems to be slowly taking that away and alienating OS X's power users.

When it comes to people who actually understand computers, with the exception of academia, the 1% are on open source. Academia is clinging to macs pretty hard for some reason.

Apple's changes to OS X could even upset those who aren't especially skilled. If you dumb down the interface enough, people will feel insulted.

They're not going to change to ubuntu. Most people won't use something that doesn't come preinstalled.
