Nothing is right. Characters who were described to the t look nothing like their descriptions, and characters who were broadly described get thrown out completely and replaced by new characters at the director's whim. Even entire terrains are altered for seemingly no reason at all.
They should understand that they are trying to capture the world of the book, not create a new work based loosely around the ideas presented in the books.

They're Hollywood. They are without style or integrity, and they stopped putting pride into their creations long ago. I fail to understand why this surprises you.

Gods, but I hope that isn't the case. The trailer is bad enough, I couldn't imagine the movie being worse. **Of course, if I go in with this mentality, maybe I won't think it's "as bad as I thought".
