Topic: Anyone had the balls to install Ubuntu 12.04 yet?

I hear the bug causing high temps on certain laptops is fixed. If that's true, I'd really like to upgrade my own laptop. Everything runs fine, but the fan is always operating at max speed. Still, I know from past experience the Ubuntu guys tend to release real betas. Which is to say they usually fuck something up.

If you've checked it out let me know how it went.

12.04 is an LTS release, so it will be a lot more stable and usable than past releases since 10.04. A lot of things went to hell when they switch to Unity, their homegrown shell, instead of using GNOME 2.x.

Use Android. It's Linux for people who can't install software themselves, and can't afford iPhones.

Who cares. The desktop metaphor is dead. Everyone uses maxed or tiled windows now. Most of the desktop GUI is mastabatory and useless.
