There is already an ICC arrest warrant for Joseph Kony. The world knows about and has taken action on his crimes.
The USA already shares intelligence with African countries and coördinates efforts to catch Joseph Kony. They have advisors in the Ugandan army.
Invisible Children sends only 30% of the money raised to Africa, and when it gets there some of it even ends up in the hands of the Ugandan army and the South Sudanese Army (both infamous for their use of rape as a weapon, and accused of thousands of civilian deaths).
Let's consider the wider geopolitical aspects. The USA has been making more permanent bases in the Asia/Pacific region to counter China's influence. Africa is the other main area of Chinese expansion, and the USA needs a pretext to start more bases and garrison more troops.
KONY 2012 is run by useful idiots (ultimately more concerned with their own fame, and indulging their personal hobby of filmmaking), and supported by useful idiots (many of whom admit they don't know what to do, but feel "something is better than nothing, right?"), and plays right into the neocolonial, white man's burden narrative the US government (and media) have been spinning to legitimize invasion and occupation of resource rich nations.

There's nothing wrong with trying to spread awareness per se, but I really can't see what good will come of the campaign. Solving the 'problem' is not as easy as they make it seem. It tries to simplify a complex issue, which is why I don't like.
Now you have hundreds of fags spamming YouTube, and changing their Facebook profile pictures to 'Stop Kony', so they can feel like they're doing something, though they're actually doing fuck all. I guarantee most people posting "KONY 2012 OMG STOP KONY!!!1111" would not be able to point to Uganda, CAR, South Sudan, or DR Congo on a map, and not be able to provide any history on the conflict besides what they gleaned from a 30-minute YouTube video.
This whole fad will pass, people will forget all about the LRA and Kony in a few months.
