So today I was at the vet with my mom getting some shots for my dogs. After we got the shots, I was sitting in the lobby with my college sweatshirt on, and there was this lady at the counter who was looking at me. As she was about to leave she said "So you go to _ College?" and I said "Yeah." She mentioned that she had a daughter who went there too as a freshman. As she was leaving my mom said to her "Have your daughter look up my son. His name is Mark ____ and he's a junior."
I was fucking mortified. I wanted to just drop dead right there. Anyone else have a similar story?
That's what we're all worried about, Mark. I think maybe it's time we have an intervention.

Your mom probably did that because she was disappointed that you didn't take the initiative to ask about the lady's daughter. I'm guessing that you didn't even bother to ask the lady her daughter's name, even if just for the sake of making polite conversation, and your mother was probably as mortified as you were embarrassed.

Exactly. He showed no initiative and his mom had to do it for him. If you don't want your mom to do it for you, then show some initiative. The woman at the counter did half the work for you.
